Former Real Madrid player praises Thibaut Courtois after Champions League masterclass

On Tuesday night, Thibaut Courtois made an impression during Real Madrid’s opening match against Stuttgart. The Madrilenians won 3-1 but were able to count on a solid performance (especially in the first half) from the Belgian goalkeeper. Kylian Mbappé (46th) scored the first goal of the game but former Union Saint-Gilloise player Deniz Undav equalized (68th). Antonio Rudiger (83rd) and Endrick (90th+5) finally allowed Real to win.

Voted man of the match against the Germans, Thibaut Courtois received much praise. Carlo Ancelotti, Real’s Italian coach, said: “He is currently the best goalkeeper in the world and I have trained top goalkeepers. Currently, Thibaut is the best of them all.”

Santiago Cañizares, former Real and Valencia goalkeeper, also spoke highly of the Real keeper: “He is the Maradona, the Messi or the CR7 of goalkeepers. He is much better than the others and he is always there. We are getting used to his saves. If it were someone else, we would highlight it, but we see it as something normal. That is the greatness of the best goalkeeper I have ever seen.”
