It’s a real WOJ Bomb that has just fallen on the NBA planet: Adrian Wojnarowski, the most famous insider in the Major League, is leaving ESPN and the world of breaking news to change jobs completely. He becomes general manager at the University of St. Bonaventure.
Like a blockbuster trade at 4 a.m., this is news that sends an earthquake through the NBA media universe.
Starting today, we will no longer receive notifications from Woj to announce the latest signing, the latest transfer, or the latest coach fired in the NBA. Adrian Wojnarowski has indeed announced on his X account that he is retiring from the media world, he who has worked for ESPN since 2017 (and Yahoo Sports before that).
The official reason for his departure? Woj clearly no longer wanted to invest so much in his role as an insider, which obviously requires a lot of energy morning, noon and evening (and even night).

While insider Shams Charania – his main rival – is probably rubbing his hands at the time of writing these lines, Adrian Wojnarowski (55 years old) will now change course to become general manager of the basketball team at the University of St. Bonaventure. A new role in which he hopes to “grow a little more on a personal level”.
FYI, Woj was a student at this New York State University, where he graduated in 1991. In 2022, Wojnarowski also received an honorary degree from St. Bonaventure University.
