Sporting CP – LOSC: Angel Gomes “apologizes” after his expulsion in the Champions League

Facing Sporting CP this Tuesday, LOSC quickly found themselves in difficulty with a goal behind and the early expulsion of Angel Gomes. The latter apologized several times following the setback conceded by his team (2-0).

LOSC travelled to hostile territory this Tuesday to face the Lions of Sporting CP. Solid during the first thirty minutes, his men nevertheless ended up cracking before the break, due to errors in the restart. This is how Gyokeres opened the scoring (38′). In the process, the Swede surprised Angel Gomes who committed a foul and received a second yellow card synonymous with a red and expulsion. At the final whistle, while his teammates had been forced to bow out (2-0) for their first outing in the league phase of the Champions League, the Briton publicly apologized: “I should have been more careful in my duel with Gyokeres. Afterwards, the referee also made his decision very quickly, but I understand it and I apologize. It made the match much more difficult for us, it would have been very different without my sending off. I apologize again.”he insists.

The match seen from another angle, in the stands, Angel Gomes had time to analyse it and he does not believe that inexperience played tricks on LOSC: “The team hasn’t changed much since last year and has come a long way to get here. Right now, it’s mostly small mistakes that are stopping us from expressing our full potential.he points. With ten men, my partners were able to resist. I apologize again for this red card which changed the course of the match for us.”he concluded in the mixed zone, in remarks relayed by The Voice of the North.
