This morning, the Canadiens’ training camp finally begins.

What this means is that the guys are going to experience the most unpleasant day of the camp: the physical tests. Recruits who did it last week won’t have to do it again, though.

Training will begin tomorrow… and next week we will have preparatory matches. Remember that at the beginning of October, there will be a closed retreat in Tremblant.

However, today is not just a good day for those who want to look to the future. Those who like to look back a little also have the chance, this morning, to check out the first two episodes of the reconstruction series, on Crave.

Episodes will be available two per week for four weeks, starting today.

I watched both episodes and clearly, we see that the CH really takes us behind the scenes of the club. We not only see aspects in the locker room, but we also see people who work for the CH at other levels.

How tickets are sold is discussed, as is preparation for the 2023 home opener.

The more you watch the shows, the more you realize that Geoff Molson is not on the poster for the series by chance. We see him a lot (even at home, at one point) and we see what he wants to see from his club.

One of the aspects covered in episode #2 is the preparation of the opening ceremonies for the game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Mr. Molson clearly wanted everything to be on point.

Throughout the episode, we see him mention that he wants it to be the best ceremonies ever and that it has to be on point. We see the preparations from the perspective of many employees who are putting in the elbow grease to make it happen.

And finally, when it comes time to chat with people after the ceremony, we see a man approach Geoff Molson to tell him that it was the worst presentation in the history of the CH. The guys from HFTV cut the clip, for those who are curious.

We see the owner say a very unfelt “thank you” before leaving. It almost seemed stagnant, it was such a dog comment… even though everyone is entitled to their opinion.

So Mr. Molson didn’t achieve his goal. He wanted the ceremonies to earn him glowing reviews in the newspapers the next morning (he repeated this throughout episode #2), but that didn’t happen.

Let’s recall, for the sake of argument, that the opening match is the one where Kirby Dach got injured. We see the sequence again in the second episode.

We don’t see only positive things in this series (which is the basis, given the title on reconstruction) and the interaction at the heart of my text is a good example. We also see a little more of the personality of several people in the organization. I recommend listening to fans.
