Jeremy Swayman File: Boston Still at an Impasse

The Boston Bruins and goalie Jeremy Swayman appear to be far from reaching an agreement.

According to TSN insider Chris Johnston, it’s the status quo in negotiations between the two camps just hours before training camp begins. The two sides have still not been able to make the concessions needed to reach a pact.

On the one hand, the Bruins have reportedly offered Swayman around $6.5 million per season for four years, while he would like to agree to a long-term salary beyond $8 million per year.

If the two sides fail to reach an agreement before the start of the 2024-25 season, the Bruins would be forced to rely on Joonas Korpisalo between the pipes. The Finn, who had all sorts of problems with the Ottawa Senators, was acquired in the Linus Ullmark goalie trade.

Swayman earned the Bruins’ trust in the last playoffs, cementing his status as the organization’s number one prospect. He had another stellar season with 25 wins, 10 losses and 8 overtime losses, while maintaining a .916 save percentage and a 2.53 goals-against average.

He was a fourth-round pick of the Bruins in the 2017 draft.
