Back in its lair this Saturday, after more than twenty days of absence, LOSC did not shine against FC Nantes. Neutralized (1-1) by the Canaries, the Mastiffs only pocketed a small point. Poor performance.
For its first outing of the year, LOSC did not cause a sensation and is marking time. At the end of a sluggish game, during which the Mastiffs were sometimes content with sterile possession, Lille and Nantes did not gain the upper hand over each other and shared the points (1-1) on the occasion of the 16th day of Ligue 1 McDonald's this Saturday. Gabriel Gudmundsson (41′) opened the scoring by pushing into the back of the net an attempt from Rémy Cabella which hit the crossbar. However, this advantage was not enough in the second act. Feverish defensively, Lille conceded the equalizer on a penalty converted by Matthis Abline (69'). Bafodé Diakité, caught in speed in the open surface, had provoked him. LOSC, with this draw, still has an 18th match without defeat in all competitions. This series alone, however, was not enough to see the slightest smile at the final whistle.

Little step by little step, this is how LOSC has progressed in Ligue 1 in recent weeks. This small point earned against FC Nantes is the result of a poor performance, given the nature of the match as much as from a purely accounting point of view. Fourth in the championship, the Mastiffs remain in this position thanks to their goal difference, two units higher than that of Olympique Lyonnais (5th, 28 pts), tied on points. They were also caught by OGC Nice (6th, 27 pts) while Olympique de Marseille escaped. Roberto De Zerbi's men now have five more units than those of Bruno Genesio, who only took a small point from AS Monaco, beaten by Paris Saint-Germain a few weeks earlier.
In addition to this Lille disillusionment, RC Lens also missed the boat and is losing ground in the first six positions. The latter are also tighter than ever with six points between second, OM, and sixth, OGC Nice. A notch lower, Toulouse FC (8th, 24 pts) is not far away. In the race to maintain, RC Strasbourg, Angers and ASSE have each made a leap in their own scale. The last two teams are no longer relegated, unlike FC Nantes (16th, 15 pts), Le Havre (17th, 12 pts) and Montpellier HSC (18th, 9 pts). The battle will be tough until the end.
