The actress published this Monday a letter co-written with her husband's family to pay tribute to him. Jeff Baena, who shared his life for more than ten years, was found dead on January 3 at their home in Los Angeles.

It took him several days to recover from the shock. This Monday, Aubrey Plaza broke the silence following the death of her husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena. At the age of 47, he killed himself by hanging on January 3 at the home he shared with the actress in Los Angeles. “It is an unimaginable tragedy,” she wrote in a brief but sincere letter, co-written with her in-laws and relayed by the media. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered their support. Please respect our privacy during this time,” she continued.

In mourning for several days, the interpreter of Harper in The White Lotus was unable to attend the prestigious Golden Globes ceremony, which was held this Sunday, January 5, near his city of residence. The event also paid tribute to the couple, through the director's speech before the evening.

United behind the screen

Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena were a couple for over a decade. They had collaborated several times, notably on the director's films, including Life After Bethin 2014. Projects that seemed to go well between them, and even united them as a couple. In 2022, the director also confided during the YouTube show “Reel Talker”: “She’s great. I would work with her if she wasn't my wife, but luckily she is. Having that kind of connection is amazing. It’s so rare to have opportunities to create together and do something creative where we’re both fulfilled.”
