During CES 2025, Nvidia is unveiling a native application for its GeForce Now service for the Steam Deck, Valve's portable console.
Valve, with its Steam Deck, has given new impetus to portable consoles by making accessible the possibility of taking your PC games on the go in a compact format.
In addition to hardware prowess, Valve's console offers the luxury of a quality operating system which even appeals to users of other consoles on the market. Today, the console could score new points thanks to an announcement of Nvidia.
After a year of testing, the teams working on GeForce NOW are preparing to launch a version native of their application on the Steam Deck, thus opening the door to new game catalogs.

If the Steam Deck is a paradise for tinkerers, and if Nvidia had already offered a script to launch the application, the arrival of a native application represents a welcome simplification for those who simply want to use their console.
The native GeForce NOW application will offer quality ranging up to 4K at 60 frames per second for subscribers to the GeForce NOW Ultimate service (at 21.99 euros per month), which gives them access to the GPU GeForce RTX 4080. Nvidia specifies on its blog that, thanks to its cloud service, the Steam Deck would use less processing power, which would extend its battery life.
For the moment, Nvidia has not given a precise date for the deployment of its native app, only indicating that it will arrive “later in the year”. The company also takes the opportunity to mention that it is working on a version of the application for certain headsets, including Apple's Vision Pro and Meta's Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
