FC Barcelona sees the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor refused by the RFEF. The issues and consequences of this decision.
The FC Barcelona hits a wall. Despite multiple recourses and studied economic strategies, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has decided. Dani Olmo et Hi Victor will not be able to be registered for the second part of the season, both in national and international competitions.
In an official press release, the RFEF specifies:
« The Monitoring Commission undertakes not to grant the prior visa or the definitive license requested by FC Barcelona to the players Mr. Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Mr. Pau Víctor Delgado in accordance with the interpretation of articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the General Regulations of the RFEF. »
This decision is based on a strict interpretation of the regulations, prohibiting a player whose license has been canceled from being able to obtain a new one to play in the same club during the same season.
A lost legal battle
However, FC Barcelona had increased its appeals, hoping to circumvent this regulatory constraint. The club's management, already under pressure for economic reasons, had developed daring financial solutions in order to respect the salary cap imposed by La Liga. However, these efforts were not enough. The Blaugranas will have to do without the services of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
Major consequences for the club
This decision is a blow to Barça's sporting ambitions. Dani Olmo, recent European champion, and Pau Victor, promising prospect, represented significant assets for the team. Their absence will force Hansi Flick to rethink his tactical plans and turn to other internal solutions or future recruitments.
The club will also have to manage the economic repercussions. The investment made for these two players, combined with their unavailability in competition, risks weighing heavily on the already fragile finances of FC Barcelona.
