With Monaco's defeat before the break and Lille's draw in Nantes, OL had a good performance on this 16th day. Thanks to its victory against Montpellier, the Lyon team is two points off the podium.
Victory was almost obligatory on Saturday and theOL almost missed it. Still a little on vacation for this resumption match, the Lyon team had to fight until the end to get the best of Montpellier (1-0). It will clearly not be the match of the year 2025 and yet, this single goal in added time does Pierre's players a world of good Sage. Only the goal difference (+10 against +8) prevents the Lyonnais from entering the top 4. But that is not necessarily the most important thing. Having played its match on the 16th day before the winter break, Monaco had lost against PSG and could find himself two lengths away in the event of a victory against Montpellier. The contract is fulfilled with direct qualification for the Champions League more within reach than ever. Even if there is still a long way to go, the championship is not even halfway through the season yet.
