A little over a year after his appointment as general manager of the Lyon academy, Fabien Caballero officially signed with Nice.
Arriving at OL in 2018, Fabien hair alternately held the roles of recruiter and recruitment manager of the academy. Then, in November 2023, following the appointment of Pierre Sage on the first team bench, he took the position of general manager of the training center.
A little over a year after this change, the manager is no longer at Olympique Lyonnais. Indeed, as was announced several weeks ago, he signed up with OGC Nice, which also attracted doctor Jean-Marc Laboratory equipment. The news was made official on Thursday January 2.
An internal solution to replace it?
He will now evolve in close collaboration with Julien Sandthe director of the Nice academy. Caballero regained the seat of deputy director of the training center in charge of recruitment. A visit driven in particular by Florian Maurice (sports director of the Aiglons), who knew him in the Rhône.
Johann Louvelthe technical director, should now be supported by Mathieu Seckingerinitially a member of the recruitment unit. The latter, even if he has not officially been appointed, would succeed Caballero.
Lots of changes at the academy
In recent months, the various staff of the Lyon academy have experienced a lot of movement. Between Jordan's departure Gonzalezof the U19s in Versailles, that of Fabien Caballeroor even Olivier Blondelwho joined Nantes, it will undoubtedly take some time before everything falls into place.
