Looking for a central defender, Stade Rennais is seriously considering drawing from the Olympique de Marseille squad. The Breton club first looked into the situation of the undesirable Chancel Mbemba. But ultimately it is Bamo Meïté who could join the Rouge et Noir.
Ready to downsize its defensive sector, Olympique de Marseille will perhaps receive a boost from Stade Rennais. The Roazhon Park resident is awaiting the arrival of a central defender. And the lucky one could well arrive from the Marseille city. François Pinault's club has indeed requested the undesirable Chancel Mbemba. Sidelined since last summer, the Congolese international, whose contract expires next June, would be available for 3 million euros.
But for the moment, Rennes has not completed its intentions on this issue, the regional daily La Provence recently revealed. Not sure that the Rouge et Noir will return to the charge. Stade Rennais could finally set its sights on another Marseille player in difficulty, namely Bamo Meïté. For his part, the 23-year-old central defender has only appeared three times this season, for just 24 minutes of play. The Ivorian international certainly returned too early following an injury. But his inability to adapt to the philosophy of coach Roberto De Zerbi also weighed him down.
Montpellier on pole
Rennes sees this as a great opportunity. So after the information already taken last summer, the current 12th in Ligue 1 once again took the temperature to find out the conditions of Olympique de Marseille. The SRFC may have learned that they are not in the best position. According to The TeamMontpellier would be in pole position even if its request comes up against the demand of the Marseille club, opposed to a dry loan from the former Lorient player and which is awaiting a dry sale or at worst a loan with an option to buy. Our colleagues therefore expect to see the situation of Bamo Meïté unblocked in the home stretch of the transfer window.
