Formerly of RC Lens who passed through Saudi Arabia, the Ivorian midfielder signed a four and a half year contract for Stade Rennais.
Ivorian international midfielder Seko Fofana (29) has signed a four and a half year contract for Rennes, the Breton club announced on Wednesday, for a sum estimated by the press at 20 million euros. The central midfielder (22 caps) chose to try the adventure in Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023 after three seasons at Lens, which he helped lead to the Champions League.
“I am very happy to join Stade Rennais and start 2025 with this new challenge, declared the Ivorian on the Breton club website. I have always observed Stade Rennais carefully, it is a club that I have often met, it counts in this championship. The discussions with Arnaud Pouille and Frederic Massara made the difference. They told me about the project and the expectations of the shareholders. The message was strong and the decision was very simple afterwards.
And to add: “I'm very excited to start, there are talented players in Rennes and I think the club is out of place. We will see the chance to be able to string together matches and demonstrate that the start of the season was below the club's potential.
