AS reports, Saturday December 28, that Real Madrid will look into extending Vinicius Junior this summer. At the end of his contract in 2027, the Brazilian, courted by Saudi Arabia, would like a new salary similar to that of Kylian Mbappé.
Freshly named best player of the year at the Globe Soccer Awards gala, Vinicius Jr continues his collection of awards and compliments. And his club intends to reward him for that. AS affirms Saturday December 28 that Real Madrid has set itself the objective of extending its offensive genius this summer.
Arriving in the Spanish capital in 2018 – although he was recruited in 2017 – Vinicius extended his contract for the first time in October 2023. His salary at the time (1.5 million euros annually, the second lowest in team) no longer corresponded with his status, the Madrid club then increased it while extending his contract until 2027.
Without revealing the figures, AS reports that the former Flamengo player currently earns less than 10 million euros per year, less than David Alaba. But with this new extension in sight, Vinicius would like to pass this milestone and even get closer to the club's biggest salary, that of Kylian Mbappé. Last April, the Spanish media claimed that the native of Bondy received 15 million euros per year in Madrid.
Saudi competition to raise the stakes?
If his contract is only at the end of 2027, Real Madrid does not want to waste time extending its star. There is no question of waiting for the last year of the contract, where offers for the very talented left winger could become more numerous. Just last summer, Relief had claimed that Vinicius would have received an XXL offer from a Saudi club, which would offer him a salary of one billion euros over five years. Allucinant figures which would not have left the attacker indifferent to the proposal.
A first step from Saudi Arabia perceived as “speculation” for his coach, Carlo Ancelotti. But, the Gulf country should return to the charge at the end of the season… Madrid is therefore preparing to experience an eventful summer.
