Announced for OM last summer, Brice Samba ultimately stayed in Lens, where he had a good first part of the season.
Last summer, when RC Lens was in the midst of a major reorganization, several players were announced as leaving, including Brice Samba. Associated with OM in particular, the French international goalkeeper ultimately remained in Artois, and retained the captain's armband. In an interview for L'Équipe, the former Nottingham player looked back on this turbulent period.
“I knew what I wanted from the start”
“Stuff was said. Afterwards, it's behind me. This is the future that I see, the next training session. For the rest, you have to ask the club the question. Maybe they had offers that I didn't know about (laughs). Why say on August 20 that I remain 100%? Because there was noise, because it was talking. I knew what I wanted from the start. Afterwards, of course there are always things that you don't control, a big club can come and spend money. But I have always been calm. I have a contract (until June 2028), so I was prepared to come back,” Samba said.
