Candidate for departure to replenish OL's coffers this winter, Malick Fofana should not leave.
In a few days, the winter transfer window will open its doors in France. Many clubs are waiting for this period of firm footing, whether to strengthen themselves, or even to sell. This is the case of OL, under threat from the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG). Several players are likely to leave the ship in January, including Rayan Cherki and Malick Fofana, considered the most “bankable”.
An extension, then a departure next summer?
However, and as reported by Foot Mercato, the 19-year-old Belgian winger does not plan to leave Lyon at all. Under contract until 2028, and being courted by clubs in England and the Bundesliga, he could even extend with OL, given that informal discussions had already been initiated a few weeks ago. Valued at 25 million euros by Transfermarkt, Fofana could however leave next summer.
