Volunteer at RC Vannes, Danièle sees nothing of the matches at Rabine

On RC match nights at La Rabine, it is with an ear-to-ear smile and a warm voice that Danièle Alin welcomes supporters to the Cashless* bank, located under the honorary stand. A smile that never leaves this 69-year-old volunteer whose particularity is to never see anything of the match. “There are always people checking out so I follow the match by the noise or people keep me informed of the score. » There are two televisions installed in the small space but the cable does not work. No luck, the other cashless space is well equipped. Even installed in the middle of a draft, Danièle does not lose her communicative good humor.

“Sometimes you have to want it”

“Being a volunteer is about offering, about kindness. My father taught me that. But it’s true that sometimes you have to want it. It’s undoubtedly a thankless job, more difficult in winter with the cold, but I have a big soul,” she laughs. This Saturday, for the match against at 4:30 p.m., Danièle will take her position around 2 p.m. “As a good nurse, I start by cleaning everything,” she laughs. It will end two hours after the final whistle after the collection of glasses and plastic pitchers. “They are recorded so, once returned, the amount is credited to the person’s cashless card. »

With Marc Fourès, his partner, Danièle Alin runs the cashless bank on RCV match nights at La Rabine. During the match, Marc sometimes goes to take a look at the pitch, Danièle happily leaves him and stays to welcome the supporters. (Le Télégramme/Anne Paulou)

Serving others

It was through a person who took the same yoga class that Danièle learned that the RCV was looking for volunteers. Friendly and dynamic, the adopted Vannetaise therefore offered her services three years ago when she arrived in Vannes. “You see an organization that works, experience a sporting atmosphere, it’s social bonding. has a soul, that suits me,” appreciates the retiree who also gives her time to the RCV association on Saturdays or Sundays, or even both, and during youth training courses to prepare brunches and post-race meals. -match and other logistics. “I see these young people evolving, it’s good to participate in the life of a sports club,” says this caring woman. We are ultimately not surprised by his generosity when discovering his professional journey, in the service of others. “I started as a medical secretary and ended up as a senior health executive at Pitié-Salpêtrière before spending four years at Châteaubriant as a pole manager,” says the pure Parisian, very happy to have left the capital and having settled in Vannes for her retirement. “I discovered provincial life and its privileges but I jumped a bit into the void by accepting this transfer to the West. » Danièle immediately bounced back into her new life between yoga, swimming, hiking, sewing and knitting classes and her volunteer hours between the RCV and the Center for Languages and Social Actions where she gives two hours of French lessons through week to foreigners. As a perfect volunteer, Danièle expects nothing in return but to discover under her Christmas tree a place offered by RC Vannes to one day see a Bretons match at La Rabine would certainly make her very happy.
