While the city of Lyon is losing residents, its metropolis is gaining them. According to the latest figures from INSEE, a commune in the Rhône attracts more than othersaccording to the latest referencing published Thursday December 19, 2024.

Lozanne, the strongest growth

Between 2016 and 2022, the population growth rate of Lausanne (Rhône) is +3.2%. This is the highest in the department over this period. Located northwest of Lyon, between L'Arbresle and Lissieu, Lozanne has 3,182 inhabitants in 2022.

The commune is followed by that of Lentilly which, with its 6,541 inhabitants in 2022, is positioned second in the ranking for the highest increase since 2016 with +3.1% inhabitants. However, the population of the village stagnated between 2011 and 2016, with only +0.4%.

The podium is closed by breath and its 4,408 residents in 2022. This municipality bordering Villefranche-sur-Saône marks a population increase of +3% between 2016 and 2022.

For its part, the Rhône department has 1,907,982 inhabitants, and continues to gain between 2016 and 2022 with a growth rate of +0.6%. A result that is still lower than between 2011 and 2016 (+1%).
