She had been preparing for this for a while. This special moment came on the occasion of the reopening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Paris. Ariane Delacroix sang solo during the festivities.
The granddaughter of the Delacroix family, based in Falaise (Calvados), will not soon forget this magical day of December 7. Head full of memories, forever engraved in the memory of this little 13 year old girl.
“A new beginning”
Ariane Delacroix sang “Pie Jesu”, taken from Fauré’s Requiem. She had the pleasure of doing so under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, an outstanding Venezuelan conductor, aged 43. One thing is certain: the magnificent feeling cannot be diluted over time.
Ariane is one of the Master's choristers, of whom there are around a hundred. “For us, singing in the cathedral is a new beginning,” notes the young girl, “impressed to perform in front of different heads of state.
I noticed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was applauded during his entrance.
Ariane Delacroix was captivated by “the clarity and light of the cathedral”.
“Very moved”
We were very moved to see our daughter singing in Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris for the reopening, under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, a very great conductor with a world reputation.
“The cathedral was rebuilt identically even if there are things that have changed. It's much brighter. At the entrance, it's white. This highlights the Gothic architecture and the stained glass windows very well. There is also new liturgical furniture, it’s modern, it’s very beautiful.”
The Delacroix family saw the event on television. “It was a bit special to see Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, the whole security part,” continues Ariane’s father.
The next day, the Delacroixes were at mass. “All masses, by vocation, are led by the Maîtrise Notre-Dame. Until the end of the year, and in 2025, the Maîtrise will participate in concerts bringing together artists within Notre-Dame de Paris.” Ariane has not finished venerating this emblematic monument.
