In recent days, we learned that Florian Wirtz, although announced as leaving for many months, should finally extend his contract with Leverkusen and stay at least until the 2026 World Cup. Invited to speak on the subject for TZ, Jan-Christian Dreesen, the general director of Bayern Munich, the German’s announced suitor, did not fail to be defeatist: “I think Leverkusen don’t want to let him go. Regardless, we always want to try to have a top team that is competitive at international level” he nevertheless insisted on declaring.

Bayern resigned for Wirtz!

He then spoke about the future of Jamal Musiala: “I have already said in my previous role as financial director: sporting success is our top priority, but always linked to economic sense. We have to maintain the balance, because it is also a tradition at Bayern. That doesn’t change the fact that we absolutely want to try to keep Jamal with us. I hope he extends his contract. We do our best. He is an absolutely exceptional player and he is still young, he is only 21 years old. We often forget it. He is not yet at the end of his progress. I know from Max (Eberl) that they are on the right track and I hope it will succeed.”

Finally, he concluded on the upcoming winter transfer window: “Max has already said we won’t recruit a replacement for Harry Kane. I can only emphasize this. We have a top team and I see no reason to act at the moment. We simply need to find ways that are ultimately ideal for all parties. My dream is that we reach the Champions League final at home. In my role – and as a Bayern fan anyway – there can be no bigger dream. I also hope we succeed with the next contract extensions.
