The winter transfer window is fast approaching and the rumors are starting to intensify. While some have circulated around AS Saint-Etienne, Peuple Vert gives the color of the transfer window for the promoted to Ligue 1. Sales and positions to be reinforced have been identified by the Saint-Etienne management.

The Greens’ strategy this winter

According to the site specializing in ASSE news, the Greens strongly want to strengthen this winter to ensure their maintenance in the elite, but without compromising the financial balance of the club. The use of DATA will be important to recruit interesting but inexpensive profiles.

First of all, at the goalkeeper position, no movement is expected. Gauthier Larsonneur does the job and is always one step ahead of his understudy, Brice Maubleu, who arrived this summer. Unless the situation turns around at the end of the year, no goalkeeper should arrive at ASSE, nor leave the Greens.

Movement to be expected in the defensive sector

In defense, however, there should be movement. Injured since the start of the season and not necessarily in Olivier Dall'Oglio's plans, Anthony Briançon should leave Forez this winter. In any case, he will be invited to find a new club, probably in Ligue 2 or abroad.

A young central defender, with interesting potential, will be targeted to replace him this winter but above all for the future of the club. The Adilson Malanda track was recently mentioned. Especially since Yunis Abdelhamid will not last long with the Greens.

ASSE: a right side expected

The latter also want to recruit a right-back as a priority. “Several avenues are already being studied, including some on the MLS side, where the Greens hope to unearth a player who is both talented and affordable”indicates Peuple Vert.

At this point, there is in particular the track leading to Lazaros Rota, which has been mentioned in recent weeks. He is a 27-year-old Greek full-back, who plays for AEK Athens, and is valued at 3 million euros.

A number 10 actively sought after

In midfield, a number 10 is sought as a priority. He is a technical player, capable of organizing the ASSE offensive game that is hoped for. An attacking midfielder, who moved to Liverpool at a younger age, has already been announced in the Greens' sights for this winter.

Note that Thomas Monconduit, Lamine Fomba and Florian Tardieu have exit vouchers for this winter. If these players leave, a more defensive midfielder will also be targeted.

No reinforcements in attack?

Regarding the attack, ASSE does not have the priority of strengthening this sector. In the event of a good opportunity, a winger could arrive, in particular to compensate for the absence of Ben Old. The Greens would have some leads in this sector and in particular a young Malian winger in their sights.

At the forefront, the staff trusts Lucas Stassin and Ibrahim Sissoko, who have shown great things in recent weeks. The arrival of an additional scorer cannot be ruled out. This remains a possibility, but not a priority.
