the essential
Since 1985, we have celebrated Beaujolais Nouveau and more broadly new wine, on the third Thursday in November. What happiness! Here is our selection of places to enjoy it in Toulouse, combining the pleasure of the fork.
Exit the colored 5€ bottle on which, each year, we are accustomed to evaluating the more or less pronounced taste of banana… The addresses listed here only serve new products from serious winegrowers, working the vines with love and treating its fruit with respect. Obviously, we are using wines of the year, very young since they are harvested mainly in August and September. We are therefore on a pure expression of the fruit which gives a less dense, less evolved juice with very high drinkability, so let's not overdo it…
An attractive offer
This Thursday evening, at Eric Cuestas' Temps des Vendanges, in Saint-Cyprien, we are offering small plates to highlight the wines from the Plageoles, Tue-boeuf, Saint-Cyr estates and others with Sasso aux Platines.
At the Cave Spirituelle, rue de la Concorde, in duo with its neighbor P'tits Bouchons, you will find a fine selection of Beaujolais with new wines from the Lapierre, Chermette and Foillard estates, but we don't forget the other regions with the Promised Lands in Bandol or Le Clos de la Barthassade in Terrasse du Larzac. In terms of boustifaille, we will be on the classic charcuterie-cheese duo but there will also be some plump pork ribs available.
Pork chop too, but from La Châtaigneraie, in Cantal this time, at Arpète, Place des Carmes, where a canaille menu giving pride of place to offal, pig's ear naan, pan-fried lamb sweetbreads, kidneys and andouillettes, was designed to accompany the early produce from the Plageoles, Foulards Rouges and Besson estates in Beaujolais.
The Thirsty bring out big guns
At Des Bouchons, in Lardenne, Julian Pallaruelo never jokes with new wine. This time, it's his neighbors who will make the burgers with their products and in terms of wines, the wine merchant brings us “very tasty” new products from all over France. Beaujolais of course, but also Languedoc, Touraine, Gaillac or Languedoc.
Place Schuman, Les Assoiffés are teaming up with Bam the butcher shop to offer champion pâté-croute and stuffed cabbage to go well with Séléné’s Beaujolais. It will also be possible to taste big guns from Beaujolais released for the occasion such as Côte de Py 2014 from Foillard or Dutraive 2017-18.
At Grave, in Saint-Pierre, Laurent Cazotte arrives with fresh produce from Frances Gonzalves and Sarnin-Berrux which Chef Valentine will accompany with naughty and autumnal dishes.
Finally, at Nebuchadnezzar, the Carmes natural wine bar, we will open the classics and Marduettes (1 month of barrel aging) from the Chasselay family in Beaujolais. This should be enough to meet all our expectations in terms of new oenological pleasures and joy of the palate. It's only once a year so you have to take advantage of it. Happy new wines to all!
