Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud experienced a heavy defeat with Los Angeles FC in Vancouver (3-0), Sunday during the second match of the first round of the play-offs. Qualification for the next round will be played on Friday.

The Los Angeles FC of Frenchmen Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud were dominated in Vancouver (3-0) on Sunday and will play a third decisive match on Friday at home to advance to the first round of the MLS championship play-offs. A week after winning 2-1 at home in the first match of a best-of-three series, Los Angeles lost to Vancouver due to a catastrophic start to the game.

Two CSCs weighed down LAFC

Hugo Lloris first suffered the opener from the Scotsman Ryan Gauld (10th) with a powerful strike in the area after a first ball repelled by a defender. Los Angeles then scuttled itself with a very clumsy own goal from the American Ryan Hollingshead on an opposing cross which left the French goalkeeper quiet (13th).

Feverish in defense, the Angelenos scored again against their camp, the Colombian Eddie Segura deflecting a new cross into his goal (68th) shortly after coming into play. The former Stéphanois Denis Bouanga had missed just before the opportunity to restart his team by missing a duel against Japanese goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka. Olivier Giroud came out in the 64th minute without having affected the game.

The winner of this duel will face Seattle in the Western Conference semi-final, which will be played like the rest of the play-offs in a dry match. Lionel Messi's Inter Miami finds itself in the same situation as LAFC after a success then a defeat against Atlanta, before a 3rd match on Saturday.
