“A scene from a western”

On May 16, 2018, these four young men attacked two Olympique de Marseille supporters who were watching the Europa League final between Marseille and Atlético Madrid. The scene was recorded by video surveillance cameras. “It was a fight more impressive than violent, it was a scene from a western, with chairs, glasses, ashtrays flying”told AFP Guillaume Royer, lawyer for one of the Nancy supporters, confirming the daily’s information The Republican East. “But the bar itself was not vandalized, and the victims were very lightly injured. Besides, they did not appear at the hearing”which was held on Friday, he stressed.

The four men, aged 26 to 32 today, were prosecuted for “aggravated willful violence”, having resulted in an ITT of more than eight days on one of the two victims. They were respectively sentenced to 16 months in prison, including six months in prison for one, and 10, 12 and 14 months in prison, suspended for the three others. The defense emphasized at the hearing that the defendants had respected their judicial review despite the length of the procedure, which lasted almost six and a half years.
