According to information from l’Equipe, OL sent a letter to the Professional Football League (LFP) to contest the agreement entered into with beIN Sports concerning the broadcast of a Ligue 1 match between 2024 and 2029. This agreement provides 80 million euros annually for broadcast rights, plus 20 million in sponsorship. However, beIN Sports has not yet paid the first installment, causing a shortfall of 24% for the clubs, or around 20 million euros.

A null and void deal according to OL

OL openly criticizes the incompetence of the LFP in the management of clubs’ marketing rights and asks the organization to recover the unpaid amounts. The club also disputes the nature of the contract, in particular the marketing aspect involving the Qatar Tourism brand, and believes that each club is forced to cede marketing rights worth 738,000 euros, without clear justification.
