Two ministers are expected at the 91st congress of mayors of Haute-Savoie which takes place this Friday in La Roche-sur-Foron, the day after the presentation by the government of draft budget for 2025. Catherine Vautrin, Minister of Partnership with Territories and Decentralization will be present at the end of the afternoon. Antoine Armand, Minister of the Economy is also announced. The ministers are due to arrive around 6 p.m., and will attend the closing speech of the congress scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Tensions on the draft budget

For the 279 Haute-Savoie mayors, this will be an opportunity to reiterate their disagreement with the savings requested by the government from local authorities as part of the draft budget unveiled this Thursday evening. Local authorities are asked to participate in the effort for 5 billion euros, accused by the previous government of having let their expenses soar.

“Unworthy” by the requests for savings, the mayor (various left) of Verdun (Meuse) Samuel Hazard proposed Thursday “a widespread resignation from local assemblies”, in a letter consulted Thursday by AFP and addressed to the presidents of the Association of Mayors of (AMF) and the Intercommunalités de France.

Nicolas Rubin, mayor (LR) of Châtel and president of the association of mayors of Haute-Savoie is the guest of France Bleu Pays de Savoie this Friday at 7:45 a.m.
