It gets much worse for Lucas Paqueta in the sports betting affair

According to the tabloids, the English football federation accuses Lucas Paqueta of obstructing the investigation into the affair of sports betting on yellow cards collected during Premier League matches.

The likelihood of Lucas Paqueta being banned for life from English football is increasing a little further. Already accused of having voluntarily taken cards during four Premier League matches to influence the sports betting markets, so that he or those close to him benefit, the Brazilian attacking midfielder from West Ham is accused of two new offenses for obstructing the investigation and non-cooperation.

According to The Sun and the Daily Mail, the English federation (FA) accuses him of not being able to present his old mobile phone, the one that was seized at the start of the affair. This phone was returned to him after a few months, but investigators reportedly asked for it again in order to carry out additional checks. But in the meantime, Lucas Paqueta would have thrown him away.

Banned for life?

According to the English tabloids, the FA would like Lucas Paqueta to be banned for life. But the current season of the former Lyonnais is not threatened: the hearing is currently scheduled for March and the verdict should not come before this summer.

Lucas Paqueta has always brushed aside all the accusations against him. The fact remains that the investigation identified, according to the English press, around sixty people in Brazil having bet between 7 and 400 pounds sterling on the player’s cards during matches against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth.
