She had become the laughing stock of social media. Australian Olympian Racheal Gunn has publicly apologised after a global outcry over her breaking performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Eliminated from the competition in the group stage (with a score of zero), Racheal Gunn became famous in spite of herself after her performance, marked by disconcerting and unconvincing figures.

Saddened by the wave of criticism

In an unprecedented television interview, broadcast this Wednesday evening but excerpts of which were published on social networks, the Australian spoke at length about the wave of mockery of which she was the victim after the competition.

“It’s really sad to hear that criticism and I’m really sorry for the backlash that the community has had to go through as well… but I can’t control how people react,” the 37-year-old told Network 10’s “The Project.”
