On January 16, 1977, hikers found the frozen body of a man in a cave in Pennsylvania (United States). This Tuesday, nearly 50 years after this discovery, the Berks County Medical Examiner’s Office announced that it had identified the individual previously nicknamed “Pinacle Man”, in reference to the summit of the Appalachian Mountains near which his body was found, reports CNN.

The suspect is believed to be Nicholas Paul Grubb, 27 at the time. Technology played no role in identifying the man from Fort Washington. It was a Pennsylvania State Police detective who, while searching through files in early August, was able to find the fingerprint card lost during the examination of the young man’s body in 1977.
