The chairperson of the Kenya National Human Rights Commission died on January 3, 2025. An emblematic figure of human rights, her death leaves a huge void, welcomed by President William Ruto and his colleagues.
Roseline Odede, chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), died on Friday January 3, 2025, the institution’s vice-chairman, Raymond Nyeris, announced on Saturday.
This disappearance aroused emotion at the highest level of the State, with President William Ruto saluting the memory of a “formidable champion of human rights”.
“Her untimely death is a blow to the commission and to the entire nation,” Raymond Nyeris said in a statement, highlighting the “exceptional service” of the deceased as head of the KNCHR.
