The Rotterdam police are looking, with a reward of 30,000 euros, for a man who, for an as yet unknown reason, shot dead people in the port city. In the space of two weeks, there have already been two deaths and on Thursday morning, a seriously injured 81-year-old man was found in a flower bed, police said. Investigators assume that the three acts were committed by the same perpetrator and that there is a link between them. The motive, however, is not yet clear.

Previously, a 58-year-old Rotterdam man and a 63-year-old man were shot and fatally injured in the street by the unknown man, both in an isolated location and, like the 81-year-old man, in the IJsselmonde district. As the newspaper “De Telegraaf” reported, referring to the police, the victims are not known to the criminal community. The investigators therefore did not conclude that there was a settling of scores or a criminal conflict.

Large police and helicopter deployment

In the neighborhood where the shooter struck, the police have deployed a large force in the streets for several days already. As “De Telegraaf” reports, a police helicopter flew over the neighborhood on Wednesday.

The authorities have offered a reward of 30,000 euros for information leading to the apprehension of the Rotterdam shooter.

Police released several photos of the possible shooter before two of his attacks. It concerns a young man, in one case wearing a cap and approaching his victim increasingly from behind. In the other photo in the wanted poster, the man has the hood of his sweater pulled down over his head.

Suspect arrested is not shooter

The police have already received some information from the population. On Monday, a 20-year-old Amsterdammer was arrested. But the shooter is still being sought, police said.
