The police spent an evening “without notable events” for the transition to the new year. The cantonal police say they have recorded around thirty interventions for cases of “theft, fights and use of pyrotechnics”.

No significant security event was reported during the party organized by the City of Geneva on the Quai Gustave-Ador.

Fire at Palettes

For its part, the Fire and Rescue Service (SIS) reports having also had a “fairly standard” evening with, again, around thirty trips.

However, the fire in a parking box in the basement of a Palettes building had to be fought. The smoke released went up into the aisles. No injuries were reported, but one person was taken to hospital for a check-up.
