A video, in Arabic and subtitled in French, broadcast on December 31 on TikTok calling for acts of terrorism to be committed in France but also in Algeria, was transmitted to the Pharos platform for reporting illicit content on the Internet. In this latest video, still online on X, the man threatens to commit attacks against people who demonstrate against the Algerian regime during the New Year. “We're going to make you like in the 90s. We're going to shoot you […] Do you want to go out on January 1st? Shoot them, we have to make the powder speak. President Tebboune, shoot them, they want chaos,” he continues.
According to a police source, the suspect was arrested without incident around 6 a.m., as well as another man, of Algerian nationality. Known on social networks as “Zazayoussef”, Youcef A., 25 years old, was born in Mostaganem in Algeria and is subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF) and is known to the justice system, according to the same source. He had, according to the Telegram, was sentenced to 12 months in prison in December 2023 for having participated in the riots in the summer of 2023 after the death of Nahel, in Nanterre. Contacted, the Brest public prosecutor's office did not react immediately.
