Firefighters intervened to rescue a man in bad shape in the River area

Around 11:15 p.m., friends of the victim went to the barracks at 2681, boulevard Louis-XIV to inform them that their friend was stuck with his all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on a small island surrounded by water.

According to the information they receive, the victim is near the Montmorency River pedestrian bridge at the intersection of Raymond Boulevard and Lloyd Welch Boulevard.

Search and evacuation operation in complete darkness

Several teams from the fire service, including three nautical teams, have left and are carrying out a major victim search operation.

The victim was finally located on a small islet in the forest east of the Montmorency River.

At 11:51 p.m. contact was made with the victim.

The firefighters then set up an evacuation operation using a Fortuna-type boat and by ATV.

Around 12:29 a.m., the victim, a man in his forties, was treated by paramedics. He was conscious and had no apparent injuries.

Around 25 firefighters worked on victim search and evacuation operations.

The rapid rise in the water level of the Montmorency River could be to blame, indicated the SPCIQ.
