The Workers' Party also criticized relations between South Korea, Japan and Washington, saying these partners had become “a nuclear military bloc for the purposes of aggression.”
North Korea will adopt its strategy “the hardest” against the United States which it accuses of being the country “the most reactionary” of the world, the official KCNA news agency reported this Sunday, December 29, after the conclusion of an important meeting of the ruling party.
This high mass of the Workers' Party, chaired by leader Kim Jong-un, took place from Monday to Friday, according to KCNA, ahead of the New Year traditionally marked by a speech by the North Korean leader.
South Korea, “outpost” of the United States
“The United States is the most reactionary country, which considers anti-communism to be its invariable state policy”indicates the official media in a report of the discussions in English.
The party also criticized the increasingly close relations between neighboring South Korea, Japan and the United States, saying these partners had become “a nuclear military bloc for the purposes of aggression”.
He also called South Korea a“anti-communist outpost of the United States” in the region, while the North Korean regime was built on this ideology.
“Hardest countermeasure”
Faced with this situation, Kim Jong-un thus “clarified” the strategy to adopt to implement “the toughest anti-USA countermeasure, to be launched aggressively”reported KCNA, without giving details.
These types of Workers' Party congresses, as well as Kim Jong-un's speeches to North Korean officials, typically serve as a platform for Pyongyang to make major policy announcements.
North Korea resolutely opposes the United States and regularly berates South Korean leaders, accusing them of being “puppets” Americans. Conversely, it is moving closer to Russia, with which it signed a mutual defense pact in June that came into force at the beginning of the month.
Moscow-Pyongyang rapprochement
During their meeting, members of the ruling party also called for strengthening relations with countries «amis». Pyongyang and Moscow have strengthened their ties since the latter launched a war against Ukraine in February 2022.
The United States and major allies have denounced support «direct» from North Korea to Russia, judging that it represented a “dangerous enlargement” of the conflict.
Pyongyang is accused of supplying troops and military equipment to Moscow, with Westerners fearing that Russia will offer it assistance, particularly economic and technological, in exchange.
