The Official Journal published on Tuesday January 24 a decree modifying the rate applied to the equipment and installation of gas boilers. This new rate will be effective on January 1, 2025.

The Official Journal published Tuesday January 24 a decree dating from December 4 in which is recorded the increase in the VAT rate in force concerning the equipment as well as the installation of THPE (Very high energy performance) gas boilers which will increase from 5.5 % to 10% on January 1, 2025.
The 2025 finance bill planned to increase this VAT to 20%. However, with the fall of the Barnier government, this measure was forgotten. This decree allows, in the absence of a 2025 finance bill, to increase this tax by up to 10%. “ By decree, you can only move from one reduced rate to another reduced ratet”, indicated the Ministry of Energy Transition to Ouest-France.
The outraged profession
The publication of this decree greatly worries the profession. For the Union of Climate Engineering Maintenance Companies (Synasav), this measure is deplored.both in form (taking advantage of Christmas Eve) and in substance (discrimination against populations with low purchasing power)“, wrote Cyril Radici, general director of SYNASAV, in a press release.
The decree indicates, however, that quotes dated before January 1, 2025 and having given rise to a deposit collected before this same date will retain VAT at 5.5%.
