Thousands of CSN activists gathered on Saturday at the Colisée in Trois-Rivières to oppose the privatization of the health and social services network.
In a press release, the president of the CSN, Caroline Senneville, described the mobilization as a “show of force”.

“Let the government know: Quebecers care about their public network and are ready to mobilize to defend it,” she said.
The CSN asks Quebec to curb the exodus of doctors to the private sector by signing a ministerial decree. The union is also asking the government to stop granting licenses to private for-profit clinics to prevent private interests from taking advantage of patients to enrich themselves.
Finally, the CSN asks the government to establish a moratorium on all types of privatization of work and tasks currently performed for the public.
The CSN promises to “increase the pressure if Quebec does not implement these measures by May 1st.
