Montérégie: two pedestrians lose their lives after a collision on Route 139

Two people in their sixties died after being hit by a car on Route 139, in Saint-Théodore-d’Acton, Saturday evening.

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were called to go to Route 139 at the intersection of 8e Rang, in Montérégie. They found the two pedestrians there, and resuscitation procedures were initiated.

Their death was unfortunately pronounced at the scene.

According to initial information from the SQ, the two victims were crossing the intersection in an unlit portion at the time of the accident. They were walking to their car, located in a parking lot at the Cidrerie Larivière orchard.

The driver, in his fifties, suffered nervous shock during the collision. He was transported to a hospital and will be met by the police as soon as his state of health improves.

A passenger in his 40s, sitting alongside him in the car, was not injured.

No criminal element was observed by the SQ. Collision investigators are on scene to better understand the circumstances of this accident.

Route 139 is currently closed between 8e and the 9the Rank in both directions, indicated Quebec 511.
