Summoned by the courts, Carla Bruni could be indicted in the Libyan affair: News

The singer and model Carla Bruni could be indicted, or placed under the status of assisted witness following questioning before the judge. The former first lady will be questioned in connection with her husband Nicolas Sarkozy’s Libyan financing affair, reports Le Parisien.

It’s a never-ending affair. Questioned again as part of the investigation into the retraction, in 2020, of Ziad Takieddine regarding his accusations against Nicolas Sarkozy on the Libyan financing of his 2007 presidential campaign, Carla Bruni could face legal proceedings.

A dozen intermediaries appear in the Libyan case

According to a source close to the case, the latter could in fact be indicted for receiving stolen witness tampering, criminal conspiracy to prepare fraudulent trials as part of an organized gang and for the corruption of Lebanese judicial personnel.

A dozen people are also included in the Libyan case, for having attempted to deceive French justice, for the benefit of Nicolas Sarkozy. The lawyers of the former President of the Republic filed a request to cancel this procedure, and also asked to have the investigation postponed.

In the shadow of these maneuvers, the sulphurous “Mimi Marchand” is also implicated. The investigating judge claims to have found a strange telephone line between the latter and Carla Bruni. In it, investigators claim to have found several messages attesting that the former first lady was informed of the arrival of “Mimi Marchand” in Beirut for Takieddine’s famous denial. If Carla Bruni finally admitted to having been informed of this trip, she will defend herself by explaining that “even though I knew she was going [au Liban, ndlr]I did not know why.”
