D + 17 after the vote. For once, things are moving quickly in the Belgian political landscape. Bart De Wever goes to the royal palace this Wednesday to provide a new report to the King regarding his informant mission. Will the president of the N-VA become a trainer? Maxime Prévot believes that it is premature to already move to this stage. “There were only two meetings with the royal informant, only one which began to address substantive elements, and even then, without going into the operational detail of a series of measures. We are not sufficiently advanced in terms of substantive convergence of the parties […] and we still don’t have confirmation from Vooruit” of wanting to participate in an Arizona coalition, commented Maxime Prévot. “No one wants a hundred days of training, but you shouldn’t go faster than the music”, he concludes.

Bart De Wever appointed trainer by the King? “It seems too early to me”

Is the formation of a federal government for July 21 a fading dream? According to the president of Les Engagés, yes. “If the clarity of the ballot boxes made it possible to quickly emerge a mathematical coalition – that of Arizona – this does not mean that the convergence of the content of the programs will be easy. There are fundamental differences”, he clarifies. Prévot puts the temporality of training into context. “What is important at this point is ensuring that the potential Arizona government is likely to happen. When Vooruit has definitively said ‘OK, let’s go’, we will then be able to be in a configuration which will allow us to address the substance of the files more broadly, which is not the case for the moment”, he says. “The stars are not yet united”he judged.

Asked about his support for a possible suit as Prime Minister for Bart De Wever, Mr. Prévot replied that he did not have a veto on people, but rather on a confederal project for the country. “It will never happen with the Engaged”, he further specifies.

As for the discussions carried out with the MR for the constitution of a coalition in the Walloon Region and in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, things will go much faster here, confided the president of Les Engagés. In his eyes, it is “plausible” that, on the French-speaking side, a government is already at work for July 21, but without wanting to set any deadline which would undermine the interest of the content of the negotiations.
