Those who danced to the minimalist and melodious techno of Marseille DJ NTO have probably never imagined a meeting with him at Mont-sur-Lausanne. And yet. On Thursday, the turntable star will close the first evening of a microfestival which is developing thanks to the tireless group of friends from Collective 52the Mont’ain Openair – so named in reference to the inhabitants of the Mont, the Montains.

After religiously occupying the Paléo campsite for a few years, the friends at Mont now have their own festival. First created in the cold season, then as part of the Fête de la Musique, the Mont’ain Openair begins its third outdoor summer edition this week.

Paid edition

And he’s starting to see the big picture: this edition is the first to require a ticket office. Last year, the payment was to please, to the hat. “It’s the price to pay to evolve,” explains Emma Pivoda, member of Collective 52, communications delegate. It was already a success to have the Ivorian group Magic System, but we also felt the enthusiasm by announcing the presence of NTO.

With a poster dedicated to electronic music, pop and rap, the small festival also aims to be intergenerational. The prices are affected: children under 12 enter free.

It remains to be seen where Mont’ain Openair growth will stop. Place du Châtaigner would in any case offer it space to expand further. “For the moment, we are not setting a limit,” says Emma Pivoda boldly. We would like to believe it because, although many micro-festivals have been born in recent years, few are based on a foundation such as that of Collectif 52.

Traveling activities

With its two retro buses transformed into bars, the group of young people are planning far and wide, whether at the bottom of the ski slopes in winter, on the squares of Lausanne last year and at the last Carnival of Sion. Between August and September, the two buses will once again operate several places in Lausanne.

The non-profit association was thus able to generate enough to take over Le Bistro, in the center of Mont. However, this adventure ends this summer. “They are really very good at events, but they cannot be everywhere,” relates Mont union member, Laurence Muller Achtari, who salutes the entrepreneurial spirit of Collectif 52. She oscillates between the pride of having saw the birth of a “real festival at the Mont, fifteen minutes from Saint-François”, and the problems of cohabitation that it entails.
