As summer has officially begun, the weather still remains unstable in Belgium. Coolness and precipitation are expected, but the situation could change on Sunday.

For this Friday, the IRM has issued a new yellow alert The regions mainly affected are Hainaut, Namur and Walloon Brabant in Wallonia, Antwerp, Limburg and Flemish Brabant in Flanders, as well as Brussels, due to the forecast showers.

This is the sixth yellow alert in Belgium in just 20 days. However, it is possible that this will be the last before the definitive arrival of good weather in the country. Until then, weather could experience some additional disruptions during the weekend.

Weather: A Friday under the yellow sign

Even though summer officially started today, the Belgian sky remains stubbornly cloudy with persistent showers. We will still have to wait before we can enjoy the sun and the beautiful days.

For this Friday, the IRM has issued a new yellow alert for several regions. Thunderstorms are possible at times, mainly in the center and east of the Belgium. However, clearings will slowly develop from the west in the evening. Temperatures will vary between 17 degrees at the coast and 22 degrees in Kempen, with a weak to moderate wind coming from the west-northwest.

At the start of the night, the last precipitation will slowly fade away to leave the Belgian east and give way to calmer weather and drier temporarily. Later in the night, the cloudiness will become more intense with the risk of showers, particularly near the French border. As for the minimums, these will be between 9 and 13 degrees.

One last rainy weekend in Belgium?

The weekend will begin under often cloudy and rainy skies over a large part of the territory. The showers will mainly affect the south-east of Belgium. Maximum temperatures will be between 15 and 21 degrees.

In the evening on Saturday, the last storms will still be possible before the weather gradually becomes dry and clear overnight. Mist and fog could form at the end of the night, especially in the Ardennes. Nighttime temperatures will range between 8 and 13 degrees.

The Sunday is shaping up to be a beautiful day, with a shining sun in many parts of the country. A few clouds still persist inland, but the weather will generally remain dry and temperatures will be milder. The maximums will range from 19 degrees in the Hautes-Fagnes to 23 degrees in the center of the country.
