During the funeral of Mamadou Moustapha Ba, which took place in Dakar, testimonies abounded to describe a man of faith and service. Former Minister of Finance, his personality as a devoted patriot was highlighted by the National Assembly, colleagues and his family.
Many official figures, including current ministers and former deputies, attended the body raising ceremony. Senegal’s economic partners, such as the IMF and the World Bank, were also present.
Former journalist Saër Maty Ba, speaking for the family, highlighted Mr. Ba’s piety and serenity. He recalled his discreet commitment to religious and social works, expressing his gratitude to the current Minister of Finance, Cheikh Diba, as well as former President Macky Sall and former Prime Minister Amadou Ba.
El Hadji Abdou Kébé, representing the in-laws, praised the discretion and patriotism of the deceased, describing him as a hard worker in the service of the country.
Colonel Ibrahima Camara, a member of the former troop children of the Charles-N’Tchoréré school, spoke of a multidimensional personality, combining rigor and generosity, with qualities recognized by his military comrades.
Seydou Diouf, former deputy, recalled the impact of Mr. Ba in the Assembly, nicknamed ”The 166th deputy” for his brilliant interventions. He was known for his mastery of public finances and his loyal commitment to the state.
Senegal
