Floods in Spain: more rain expected due to a cold drop, what to expect?

The lull was short-lived. Once again, showers threaten the north and west of Spain. This Tuesday, under the influence of a cold drop, precipitation is expected in the Valencia region, in the south of the country and on the Balearic Islands.

Also, several regions of Spain are placed on alert for the risk of rain and floods, note Weather alarm. The southern coast of Valencia, the northern coast of Alicante, the northern coast of Castellon, the southern coast of Tarragona, the Sun and Guadalhorce, Axarquia, but also the Sierra Tramontane, the southern region and the Mallorcan Levante on the island of Majorca, are on orange alert, as is Ibiza.

It is once again the Valencia region which is expecting the most severe bad weather. Until 120 mm are expected. Same thing towards Tarragona, and up to 100 mm towards Malaga or the Balearic Islands.

Cold drop

According to Keraunosa cold drop is set up and will descend from the north-east of France, drawing a curve all the way to Portugal. From this Tuesday, it will bring precipitation to the south of France and the north of Spain, before continuing its progress towards the Portuguese border.

“The cold drop which bypasses the anticyclonic cell is positioned in the North Sea this Monday morning. It is clearly visible on the sat water vapor image. It will migrate towards the south of Portugal by Thursday. Risk of rain in the South-East between Tuesday morning and Thursday morning”details the storm risk observatory.

As the soils are saturated, vigilance is required. THE flood risks are high and the inhabitants particularly exposed after the floods which ravaged the country over the last fortnight.
