While going to the beach for a swimming activity, these two children living with their parents in Somone were unaware that they were spending their last moments. Indeed, during a swim, Marianne Sembène (13 years old) and Pape Amadou Ndir (10 years old) unfortunately died drowned at sea, reports L’Observateur this Monday.
The residents of Somone experienced a shocking and tragic morning yesterday, marked by the drowning of two local children: a 13-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. However, according to the testimonies of the neighbors of the victims’ parents, when they woke up this Sunday, nothing suggested such misfortune in the neighborhood, because almost all of their children were used to gathering in the same place to play. together.

However, contrary to their usual behavior, around 11 a.m., three of the children left their classmates and headed towards the beach. There, far from the gaze of their parents, Marianne Sembène, Pape Amadou Ndir and another of their friends decide to engage in a recreational activity, including swimming. So they throw themselves into the water. Unfortunately, after a first part of swimming, when the fishermen arrive on the beach to go to sea, they see the three children wading in the water, waving their arms to ask for help.
Suddenly, the fishermen rush to help them, but in their attempt to save the children, they are unable to find Marianne Sembène and Pape Amadou Ndir. Only their comrade is saved at the last minute by the fishermen, before being handed over to his parents, who take him to the hospital. As for the other two children, they remain untraceable.

Alerted, the residents of Somone contacted the Mbour firefighters and rushed to the beach. It was only after two hours of searching that the rescuers managed to find the lifeless bodies of Marianne Sembène (13 years old) and Pape Amadou Ndir (10 years old). After the usual observations carried out by the gendarmes of the Somone Brigade, and the identification of the bodies, they were transported to the morgue of the Thierno Mouhamadoul Mansour Barro hospital in Mbour for autopsy. An investigation was opened by local law enforcement.
