Les Enfants Terribles plant a flag in Quebec

Almost 17 years ago, the banner which will soon have seven addresses (including Quebec) was launched in the Outremont district of Montreal. The goal of this family project was to launch a restaurant at the crossroads between a Franco-Quebec brasserie and a contemporary American restaurant.

“It’s a concept of a cool, friendly, unpretentious neighborhood restaurant, which focuses on quality seasonal ingredients,” explains Alexandre Brûlé-Brosseau, creative and marketing director, partner and co-founder of Les Enfants Terribles. “It’s a place to eat steak and fries, fish with a good bottle of wine, caviar and oysters, or to enjoy dishes with the family that will please everyone and at all prices.”

An opening in Quebec from December

Around the first weekend in December, a first branch will open its doors to the east of the metropolitan region. It is in the premises of the former Starbucks café on Grande Allée, in Quebec, that the Enfants Terribles are based these days.

“The location is a good choice for us,” assures Anthony Talbot, director of this future restaurant. We are far from the other concepts of the Grande Allée, such as the music of L’Atelier or the microbrewery of l’Inox. Our menu is easy to approach and speaks to several generations.”

It is the restaurateur and businessman Charles-Antoine Giroux who operates this franchise in the capital. He is known in the industry for having launched Pizzérias No 900, Morso Pizzéria and Bloom Sushi here, among others.

“When we thought about the next markets to develop, Quebec City was always at the top. top from the list. Before going to Ontario or the United States, we found that we had a fit perfect with the capital.”

This first step could well be followed by others in the region. “For us, it is an important investment to plant a flag in Quebec. We’re coming to test the market to see Quebec’s appetite for Les Enfants Terribles. If there is, it is certain that we will quickly start looking to serve a wider market,” declares the businessman.

Classic and variable menu

On the menu, we will offer “sought after classics, without reinventing the wheel”, they say. The chefs will also offer a variable slate menu, in order to adapt to the seasons and highlight ingredients from the greater Quebec region.

One example among others: a shepherd’s pâté with braised beef cheek, with truffle oil and corn in two ways. That said, we say that the best sellers are tartares (beef, salmon or tuna), burgers and Caesar salads with grilled chicken, among others.

At the end of the current project, the dining room — completely renovated, decorated with walnut and equipped with numerous benches — will accommodate up to 75 seated customers. In the summer, a terrace will double this number.

The Quebec firm Agence Spatiale signed the design of the restaurant plans, based on the company’s existing standards.
