After almost two decades at this location, the neighboring Simons store will leave Maloney Boulevard West to move three kilometers further to a larger location on the RioCan property, on Boulevard de la Gappe, near from Highway 50.

The opening of the new address is planned for spring 2025 and the development work has already started, confirms Floriane Claveau, spokesperson for the Renaud-Bray group, owner of this brand.

The Quebec banner specializing in entertainment will be located in a 15,000 square foot space on this commercial site where there are around twenty chains including Winners, Bouclair, Walmart, L’Équipeur and Boston Pizza.

The Griffon games and toy store, also owned by Renaud-Bray, will also leave Promenades Gatineau to settle in the neighboring premises of the future Archambault, it is specified. Its sales area will increase by 2,000 square feet.

“The leases end in March and each time the lease ends, we assess whether our needs have changed, whether we need to expand, redevelop, move. There (in Gatineau), we needed to increase the surface area of our stores and an opportunity presented itself very close (to the current locations),” explains Ms. Claveau.

The premises that will be used from the spring are those left vacant in recent weeks by the Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSSO), which operated a sampling and vaccination center there since 2021. With prior notice of 30 days, the organization which was renewing the month-to-month lease had to vacate the premises in October.

The company specifies that as these are two branches that are doing well, we could afford to invest in order to expand the offering to customers in Outaouais.

The amounts of the investments were not specified.

Archambault, a chain founded in 1896 in Montreal, has a dozen stores across Quebec, as does the Griffon banner.

In writing, the Westcliff company, which manages Promenades Gatineau, indicates that it never comments on the movements of its tenants.
