The mountains here are steep, almost vertical. We are in Val Piora, in Leventina, at the northern end of Ticino, on the way to Lake Cadagno. To get there, from the plain, you have to drive an hour for anyone who is not afraid of the small road that borders a precipice. Or take the funicular, one of the steepest in the world, with its slope of 87.8%. Arriving at the Ritom hydroelectric dam, you have to walk another hour.
