The Apple Vision Pro will become even more interesting thanks to this camera signed by a big name in the sector

Vision Pro users will be amazed. During WWDC 2024, Blackmagic showed its interest in the production of video content for Apple’s headset, from shooting to post-production.

Those who have spent time at audiovisual schools know Blackmagic well. The Australian manufacturer not only designs quality professional cameras, but also renowned post-production software that was probably used for the last film you saw on the big screen: DaVinci Resolve. This is why the company’s current attraction to Apple’s Vision Pro is not anecdotal, especially since it does not seem to do things by halves.

In a press release, Blackmagic presented its new device from the URSA range “ designed to capture content for the Apple Vision Pro »: Immersive Cinema. If the technical details of the device have not yet been fully revealed, the company announces a resolution of “ 8,160 x 7,200 pixels per eye, 16 stops of dynamic range for immersive stereoscopic 3D cinema content at 90 frames per second “.

Images provided by the manufacturer on X.com (formerly Twitter) reveal a wider camera block than usual to accommodate the two lenses. Above all, Blackmagic has highlighted the possibility of attaching the camera to a drone, it remains to be seen to what extent the weight of the Immersive Cine will limit the choices in this area.

Launch planned for 2024

DaVinci Resolve will also lean a little more towards Apple’s VR headset. In a future update, the software will fully support videos produced by Cine Immersive, which means, among other things, that it will automatically synchronize the two 8K video files created for each shot (one for each eye) . It will also be possible to view and edit them on a 2D screen, but also to consult them directly on the Vision Pro itself, which can then serve as a monitoring support.

Blackmagic thus presents itself as a partner of choice in the creation of videos tailored for the Apple brand’s headset. If the price of the Cine Immersive has not yet been revealed, we can expect a fairly high price considering the hardware necessary to capture two 8K videos simultaneously. Response to the launch of the camera, in 2024. Also see if the arrival of the device bodes well for a Vision Pro which is still sorely lacking in content, even though it is finally arriving in our region.
