The former president of Senegal, Macky Sall, arrived this morning in to present his condolences to the family of Mamadou Moustapha Ba, his former Minister of Finance and Budget, who recently died, according to dakaractu.

In particular, Macky Sall wished to personally express his support for the widow of Moustapha Ba in this difficult moment, thus marking the respect and friendship which linked the two men beyond their professional collaboration. The visit of the former head of state testifies to the importance that Mamadou Moustapha Ba had in Senegalese political and economic circles. Appointed Minister of Finance and Budget under the mandate of Macky Sall, Moustapha Ba was recognized for his efforts in budgetary management and financial reforms aimed at stabilizing and strengthening the Senegalese economy. His death left a void in the country’s political landscape, and many former colleagues and politicians paid tribute to his career.

Macky Sall will also attend the lifting of the body of his former minister, planned in the French capital. After this ceremony, the remains of Mamadou Moustapha Ba will be repatriated to Senegal, where a national tribute will be paid to him. The arrival ceremony is expected this Thursday in Dakar, with the presence of public figures and citizens who have come to pay tribute to the memory of the man who was a key player in the country’s economic policy.
